Thanks for the kind words, I like sharing info about one of my passions!
I agree with your appraisers for the most part - the rule of thumb for standard mahogany cases is about 75 per standard section and double that to 150 for quartered oak (12' sections are trending much higher recently).
It also matters how you are going to sell your bookcases. If you keep Each bookcase stack together (instead of breaking up into individual sections) I think you can get more, maybe much more, for it. Alot of professionals like the antique mahogany cases for their offices and will give you a pretty good price for them. I suggest you keep your eye on Ebay - search for Globe Wernicke - and note the prices of similar mahogany bookcases that have sold. If you list it well on there and offer economical shipping, I think you will be pleased at the price it realizes for. I assume they are all in good shape with original parts.
