Some pictures would be very helpful of this....any chance of emailing some? My two cents here is that...as a rule...drilling dowels into a repair like this can do the opposite of strengthening...can you tell why it broke to begin with? Sounds like you have a good grasp of the mechanics of construction...was this shrinkage?...did it take a shot?....did a couple get too playful???...were fur lined handcuffs involved?
