Liquid Hide Glue from the Hdw. store will be a good choice for the loose veneer. The best thing for missing veneer is to find a match and cut small 'V' shaped openings to insert a corisponding patch of matching grain. Old furniture from a second hand shop, garage sale, or a wood shop with a little saved veneer stash may get you what is needed.
