Hi Joel,

Sounds like two wonderful bookcases! Both date from the 1915-1921 time period (they used a different style tag both before and after this period.) You are in luck, Quartered oak with the curved top is the most sought after type of Globe Wernicke bookcase. Grade 299 (which is quartered oak) is a little more valuable than grade 199 (straight cut oak), but are frequently interchanged.

Keep in mind, condition and originality are everything. Most of the premium value lies in the original finish, glass, and the metal hardware (scissor mechanism, end irons and pulls. Take a look on ebay and follow the auction of Globe Wernicke cases similar to yours to get a good idea of the value. I dont think you will be disappointed.

Also, the curved, or ogee drawer bases are very sought after and usually command a pretty good premium these days. The 112 sections in oak are much sought after as well.

Hope this helps, MAtt
