Smoking stand with copper lining

I just bought what I thought was a telephone table with a copper-lined cupboard in the front. After doing a little research, I found out that copper linings usually indicate a humidor or smoking stand. The piece I bought has what appears to be racks for reading materials on the sides. Any idea if I'm on the right track? If so, how do I go about finding the approximate age of this piece?
