I have question. It was said this type of damage could not be 'uncracked' and would have to be filled. Couldn't the top be disassembled, rehydrated and reformed into the original shape? My thinking is that none of the fibers have been destroyed by the drying of the wood, so they are still there and need only moisture to swell back into the original size. Of course I am assuming this is truely a valuable piece actually worth a proper restoration??
