I have found that acetone (very flammable, by the way) same as fingernail polish remover, will dilute almost any paint from latex to oil, but you may also remove the original finish on the veneer and have to repair that, but what it will not do is destroy the veneer itself.

As mentioned, plenty of clean rag area to absorb the mix of paint and chemical before the acetone has the chance to evaporate which is only a few seconds.
