There should be a furniture shop in your area that can sell you a sheet of the wood veneer you seek. There are many on the web, Vandyke's.com, and www.flexwood.net

I believe the greater challenge may be in locating a suitable adhesive, as contact cement was the old standard, it is not the best choice and some would say it is no longer up to the task. I prefer a uriaformaldehide glue, for stregnth and safe being with any stain or finish plus durability in all conditions. And you have a wide window of application time, about 20 minutes, for positioning. It's the clamping that may be a trick, I use a vacuum bag and have not tried any other method as yet, but others may have a suggestion for that issue.
