Any finish would work on the Teak, but remember that lacquer, varnish, shellac, are all film finishes that sit on top of the wood surface. An oil finish is not, it soaks into the wood and hardens from inside out, The main benefit is durability, and maintenance...you can re-oil yearly to renew the surface right in your living room...Watco would be a good choice...three coats for a final finish surface...recoat almost anytime you feel like it with their "rejuvinating Oil"...and you can put it on with 600 grit sanding pads or wet dry paper, sanding it into the wood wet..let it set 15-20 minutes and wipe off gently with the grain for a satiny smooth surface that won't scratch like lacquer when dry and is quite durable.
