tortoise shell cleaning

I have a Boule lap desk, brass and tortoise shell. How can I get this piece to look as good as the Boule boxes I see where the brass is clean and the tortoise shell is bright. Seems it would make my lap desk look a lot better. This item has not sold in several years, it needs something to make it look better.
