Thanks for the comments & suggestions- much appreciated. I'm not familiar with trans-tints, tho I think I saw them in one of the catalogues. I'm not in any hurry on this one, and if oil makes the figure "pop", I'll try it first down near the bottom somewhere. I dont know about "dewaxed" shellac, but I'll try to find out. By the way, what's wrong with polurethane varnish? Thanks again. B.
