Empire Sideboard

I'm thinking of buying an Empire Sideboard (1810-1830), flame mahogany veneer. However it has damage on it and I'm wondering if it can be repaired. There are 4 splits in the top piece of the sideboard, many cracks all over and a few small missing pieces of veneer. Do antique dealers fix furniture typically in this condition and resell? Thanks for your help.
