A short time ago James mentioned that it is amazing that a product such as Murphys that is made for cleaning wood can be so bad for the wood! The clouding is due to what we call "blushing", which happens when water is applied to finishes such as old lacquer or shellac. Buffing with the steel wool should take care of it but in the future use something like Minwax Wood cleaner. Stay away from Murphys and for God sake, stay away from Pledge! Pure lemon oil works, as does Guardsman for dusting. Pledge will just load the piece up with silicone.
