There are oil stains that are intended for Teak wood scecifically, but if you remove the natural oil that is on the surface of Teak, then you should be OK. I use acetone, but I also have good ventelation, any solvent will do. Naptha, alcohol, or lacquer thinner, the hotter the better. Also, be prepared to stain right away when you use the solvent wash, and start the finishing as soon as the label instructions suggest.
