Mothballs smell terrible...I never really liked that smell..www.aromaticcedar.com has an oil made from western red cedar that will help the chest smell right again...I would take the chest outside and wash it with some solvent..my chioce would be WilBond, as it has several solvents in it and excells at removing alot of things...just make sure you wear some respiration protection..this stuff is highly aromatic and strong.....then after thorough drying, scuff sand the inside with 220 sand paper, vaccuum well and use the cedar oil.....you may want to do two coats a few weeks apart...best of luck
