ANTIQUE FURNITURE RESTORATION DISCUSSION BOARD

I have an antique dresser I purchased that really needs to have a new top put on. I believe the wood on the dresser is cherry, but am not concerned about matching the wood up perfectly. Wondering where to go to find a replacement piece of veneer, or would it be easier to just buy a solid piece of wood and put it on? I am near Portland, Oregon. Thanks.
