I'm not quite sure what James was meaning..Wine certainly is naturally red, depending on the grapes used...are you positive that it's lacquer?...LAcquer should stand up to wine pretty well, shellac or wax will not hold up as well, unless the lacquer was already in bad shape. I guess you're not considering stripping this piece?...that would be the surest way to rid yourself of the stains....have you tried rubbing the stain with some alcohol?..then perhaps a bit of a carpet stain cleaner like Resolve applied with an artists brush till sturated then dump a pile of really fine sawdust on it...like from the bandsaw..and let it dry..the newest version of this stain remover has an oxygenator too...it's amazing how well it works on carpets and upholstery, especially for wine stains...not entirely sure what results you'd have on veneer...but I don't think you can hurt it any...
