Greg mentioned flat surfaces for scraping. I ignore the instructions on the stripper and use a very sharp old putty knife but i would not recomend that to a newbie. Home centers carry plastic scrapers which will not gouge the wood. I would suggest that to a first time stripper. On curved areas I really slosh the stripper on until it is basically a liquid, then wipe the finish off with paper towels. Its amazing how much comes off. Also amazing how many paper towels it takes! I might go through 2 rolls on an average dresser with lots of detail but what the heck.......paper towels are cheap. If there is a lot of detail I might put on another light coat of stripper, then scrub it down with a toothbrush dipped in lacquer thinner. I use a lot of paper towels and lacquer thinner....its cheaper I figure than my time spent on a piece. Oooohhhh the things the instructions on that can of stripper don't tell you!
