I just inherited my grandmothers cedar chest. On the base of the chest is black numbers 102-48. I cannot find name or manufacturer. I estimate the chest as being 100 years old. Based on my fathers age of 77 and he remebers it always being in the house as a child. I am inquiring as to the care of the chest.
The interior cedar seems to be in excellent shape. The exterior wood appears to be very dry and light. It appears to be pine, not sure. There is a clear coat of shellac on it as I have determined. Is there a wood preservative to use to moisten up the wood? It comes on ornated original wooden casters.
Appreciate the help. Thnaks Neal.
