Teak will take finish with lacquer, I would wash it down with acetone first to remove the natural surface oil in the wood, prior to staining. Also I would use a linseed oil, based, stain like Watco. The oil stain will counter the natural oil and should go on immediatly after the acetone wash, wear a charcoal filter mask whin working around acetone for prolonged periods of time.
