I have to agree with Gregg with reservations. The thing you didn't say was whether she put any finish on them. I have been doing refinishing for 35 years and my work always looks like hell when I stain it. Dry stain looks dull and washed out generally. I have to admit.....I always have to remind myself that it will improve once the finish goes on. Yesterday I put an oil base stain on a dresser and today when I went over to seal it I thought there was no hope for it. I put the shellac on and it looks great now. If she just stained it so far give it a chance. It may come out beautiful!
