I sympathize and agree most profusely about the dreaded Pledge/Fish Eye problem. Now for the helpful advice. I also do a bit of refinishing, but I never have fish eye problems. One thing I do is to use fish eye destroyer in every batch of lacquer I mix, just in case. The other thing I will say is that I do use a lacquer sealer, or vinyl sealer if spraying precat lacquer, and have not had to use any shellac to avoid the problem. I'm useing almost exclusivly Mohak products, for what it's worth, so that cross application is not a problem. I don't want to find products that don't work together and Mohawk is pretty fair stuff, so laon as you make the minimum order. I also pressure wash almost all stripped wood, and that helps too. I go easy with the pressure and dry off immediatly, then a soft fan does the rest, so grain raising is lessend. Any way I sure hope you can figure out a permament solution, I'm hot having the best time eather. Went to an art fair and had the wind destroy my largest carving, $450.00 down the drain, oh well, we must go on, eh?
