ANTIQUE FURNITURE RESTORATION DISCUSSION BOARD

repair soft finish?

I have an antique dining room table which was refinished about 30 years ago. The finish is urethane, I think. Over the years, the finish on the table top has become "soft" -- items stick to it and leave marks, more like dents than scratches. I suspect this is due to using Pledge. Is there anyway to restore the finish on the top without stripping it & starting over? I really would like to do this without moving the piece out of the dining room.
