I recently purchased for 10$ a chair that appears that at one time it sat in 2" of water -- because the bottom 2" or so of each leg almost looks shredded. Aside from cutting it off, is there a way to repair or fill in the rotted looking sections to keep the length of the chair legs as well as any value the chair may have once I refinish it?
