Trying to visulize the problem is a little tricky with no picture. But if I had a crown that the tips were breaking off, I'd attach them/it with a tiny amount of super glue edge to egde. Then I'd get a thin strip of brass and add it as an overlap to the back side also using super glue. Clamping it as I go along to conform to what ever curve there is at least for a few minutes to assure a good tight seal and surface contact glue job.
