Dear Greg and James,
Let me be more descriptive on this issue. I have seen and used "hollow" pieces many years ago. And I know that products like this are still used for certain applications. The product that I am asking for is made out of solid wood (poplar), approx 1/2 - 5/8in. thick wall, either: pipe, or half of the pipe (cut lengthwise) or quarter of the pipe (cut lengthwise). In other words, this is something like quarter round or halfround, with the difference in cross-section, looking like a shell, instead of solid. The luxury boat yards use this product mostly for avoiding sharp wall corners on the boat. My application would be for the reproduction of antique furniture. The issue is to have a regular round shape, because I am going to apply matched veneer on the top. And from my practice and experience I know, that strange things may happen to the veneer if you try glue on the irregular shape. I am a pretty good craftsman, but in this particular situation, when I need to form and shape 33" long with nice parallelism, I would rather rely on the machined pieces. The piece that I am talking about would be a combination of 8" and 4" radiuses over the 33" stretch. Product from Outwater, this is my plan B. I am a little bit conservative on the antique furniture reproduction issue. Thank you very much for your helpful hand.
Marek
