ANTIQUE FURNITURE RESTORATION DISCUSSION BOARD

crotch mahogany veneer preservation

I have an old bowfront bureau that has each drawer front veneered in crotch mahogany. There is no loss of veneer. However, one of the drawers shows age cracks in the veneer. The veneer has not blistered or bubbled. I want to keep it that way. But give another 10 years? 50 years? 100 years? What will happen? What can I do now to preserve/conserve this piece? Do nothing? A good wax? Spray polyurethane? Suggestions would be most appreciated.
