Repairing broken veneer on dining chairs

I am wondering if anyone can give me some advice on making repairs to some chair I recently acquired.

They are reproductions of hepplewhite shield back chairs, but they have a mahogany veneer rather than solid wood. The backs are losing veneer in some places and also have cracked completely in other places. Is there a way to patch or restore these chairs so they look better?

Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated!
