Looks like we are still re-hashing this but I assume that is because it is an important subject! What do people use to dust? Pledge of course!!!! They advertise that it cleans, shines, and protects. It does all that. It is basically a liquid so yes it cleans. Just as well as a damp rag. Shine? It does. For about 12 hours. Protect? Truth in advertising prevents them from saying it protects if it doesn't. I imagine it has a certain amount of wax in it to support that claim.

Water cleans just as well. Paste funtiture wax will keep it shining for months - and pretect a lot more! Bottom line here - Pledge is worthless stuff - loaded with silicone that damages wood. It should be removed from the marketplace but as long as it doesn't harm PEOPLE we are stuck with it.

I am a child of the 60s - free love, racial freedom, etc. We need to protect out heritage. I'm sorry but pledge doesn't do that. It ruins furniture for generations to come.

I have spoken.
