This is a post I offered on a semilar request, if you have futher questions, I can supply more.
Use a liquid hide glue for the best way to reaffix the loose veneer, wax the surronding area to prevent excess glue sticking to the finish. Use a sheet of waxed paper clamping pad and a C clamp. Small chips can be hidden with a wax fill stick of the matching color. An epoxy putty of matching color will also help hide a flaw such as this. But the best thing to do is match the wood and grain with veneer and cut a 'V' into the face and make a corresponding patch which can be glued into the 'V' shaped hole, light sand and finish.
