Just inheirited 1942 cedar hope chest. Information burned inside lid states "Roos" and "Sealtite Lid", "Forest Park". Unfortunately, not well taken care of, even a little abused. Stains on top, some small dents in wood at edge. Is it okay to lightly sand and seal with paste wax? Or should it be left alone, so called patina? If any value, would it be ruined if refinished?
Thanks so much for any advice.
