ANTIQUE FURNITURE RESTORATION DISCUSSION BOARD

Finishing a BAR Top

Hello, newbie here.

I am not refinishing an antique however I have a question about finishing in general. I have built an all Oak 16' bar. I am using a great product on the top recommended by a woodworking friend of mine. It is called Behlen Rockhard Table top varnish. It is a short oil varnish, very glossy and looks great. My question is, I have already applied the first coat by brush however I want to thicken it up a bit. Does anyone know if I can safely pour this stuff on (not too thick of course), but apply thicker coats more so than a brush can apply? Any info would be great. Thanks!

Tony
