I may be readibg this all wrong but it sounds like all you wanted him to do was fill the holes. I hope you didn't pay him much! There are products on the market to fill holes which never harden. If the worms are gone they aren't doing any harm now and in fact, those holes are desirable. Furniture manufacturers used to splatter a surface with stain to make it look like wornholes! I would dig out the filler he put in and just finish the piece w/o filler. Let the worm holes show! Ignore the holes and finish it. You will be happy wih the results. Roger
