I have a new piece of furniture that is painted with an oil-based paint and sealed with an oil-based lacquer. My issue is this: it is rather prone to light scratches, and I'd like to re-seal it with something stronger and more resiliant. However, I don't think I can just go basting it w/ polyurethene, can I? I'm not sure what my options are on this one. Product info on this piece can be found at: http://ww1.potterybarn.com/cat/pippopup.cfm?gids=p4091&skus=&cat=&type=productinfo&src=pipcfurhofstr|gp4091|k|s&lid=8192

Thank you!
