ANTIQUE FURNITURE RESTORATION DISCUSSION BOARD

I've purchased a William and Mary walnut dining room set whose ball feet are cracked so now they're blocks, not balls. What would be the best way to repair or replace those balls? Can that ball be unscrewed/ removed from the rest of the leg or are entire legs turned at one time? Someone at one time did repair a ball foot and it doesn't look TOO bad.
Thanks.
