Insects will not survive alcohol on their epidermal, the quickly suficate and die. I have had extensive conversations with antamogolists here at Iowa State over the removal of these pests, they can live for up to seven years in the egg and have been know to hatch after striping. The eggs are hardy enough and the larve deep enough that the alcohol would have to be omnypresent, and repeated a few times over a couple years.
