An Oxalic acid solution will remove or lessen the fruit stains if you want to try that...after cleaning off any gunk on the surface and a good drying, follow the instructions on the package of dry crystals...and paint on the warm solution and just watch to see what happens....then after thorough drying follow up with James suggestions....there is a product called "Preserve" that offers two such coatings that I like to use, one an oil and one a wax type paste...do a Google search and you will find them.
