In this period the furniture industry was shifting from shellac to lacquer as lacquer was a faster and tougher finish. The general ruse for this transition period is, if the furniture is modern in design then the finish was most likely the modern nitro cellulose lacquer. All furniture did fairly quickly make this shift since after the war shellac, which was an import, was already in short supply so the shift was pretty fast as the boys came home and started having familys.
