In Response To: "warped" desk lid (Don)

The best way to remove this warp may be to remove the finish and add moisture to the concave side while adding heat from a light source on the other. The moisture can come from damp cloths or steam from a vaporiser or something of that sort. (curtain steamer. hot pan of water, wet grass) After the shape has come around and mabey even a little to the reverse, you should place thin sticks like clean paint mixers on both sides, a flat ply board on top of that, and a couple wieghts, like cement blocks. (don't do this to a severly warped board, it will crack unless it is currently flat) Allow all this to sit for a couple weeks, remove the wieght and watch to see if it remains flat for a week or so. As soon as you notice that it seems to be returning to the warped shape, repeat the whole process for one week. Keep this for as long as it takes to retrain the fibers in the wood. It took a long time for this situation to occur and it may take a while to remediate it.
