You may be able to reglue loose veneer with fresh hide glue, but it is not an easy matter. If the veneer is already loose then I would say avoid this piece. A good vent will help remove the moisture from the air, and a good oil varnish will be important. But if the veneer is already loose, that will be a big problem to fix.
