Advice on cleaning antique velvet chair

Hi All

I need some advice on cleaning an antique velvet/velour chair. Its a gold colored baloon back tufted side chair - and all the professional cleaners I called said they would charge $60+ and can't guarantee it would come out clean- the upolstery companies said you have to be very careful cleaning this type of material. Does anyone know of a home-made cleaner that will do the trick? Its an antique I got on ebay, with a few deep looking stains, and overall just needs a good cleaning.
