Sounds like you have Quarter or "rift" sawn Oak there. I have never heard the term Tiger applied to Oak.,...ususally to Maple. Rift sawn white Oak can have wild "stripes" or "Flames", I have seen some beautiful examples over the years.Oak also comes through with curly grain structure too, sometimes...any good wood book will help you out..there are hundreds of books on wood types out there.
