I recently bought a 6 foot tall 1940`s mahogany china cabinet from an estate sale and would like to restore it to its former glory. it has been painted with what looks like several layers of black paint. i would like to strip it and stain it with a dark mahogany stain. i have never restored anything before and have no idea where to start and what products to use.. should i strip it using a heat gun or paint stripper? do i need to sand it back at all? it has a glass door and 2 glass side panels. should these be covered while i strip and stain? should i polish it after staining? any help or suggestions would be REALLY appreciated!
