I purchased an old leather trunk that seems to be in really good shape. There is a little green paint on the top-that looks as if someone was painting something and just dripped paint on the trunk-which needs to be removed. The inside lining appears to be a type of canvas, the tray is missing. The wood has only a few rough spots, but they give it character. The wood has darkened a lot, however. I need to know how to remove the paint spots, clean the leather and keep it in good condition, how to clean the wood, and how to clean the brass. I don't want the brass really shiny, but it needs to be cleaned. I have no idea how old the trunk is or what kind it is. There is a faded stencil on the top in white that looks like "110." The lock has "Simmons Hardware Co., St. Louis" on it. Do you think this could have been a trunk used by a member of a branch of the armed services? Please let me know if I might be able to find a replacement tray. Thanks for any advice you can offer.
