Good quality mineral spirits and 4 "0" steel wool.....or turps...there are commercial "Dewaxers" like Mohawk or Behlen's "WaxWash", and if the paint is glossy, you could also use something like "WilBond"....which is a great prep solvent....but fairly toxic.....meaning use outdoors...or with good ventilation.
