antique National Cash Register

I am in the final stages of restoring a National Cash Register (model 317) and need guidance on the outer case which is the decorative brass style.

The case has already been cleaned with Wright's Copper Cream and SOS soap pads. Probably not the right thing, but it doesn't look too bad.

I want to give these parts a final polish and then seal with, I suppose, a brass laquer.

What are the steps to follow. If James Schooley reads this, he sounds like the expert. I would appreciate any guidance.
