Hi - I've been searching for some time and finding info for these old timers seems pretty tough going for some reason. A good friend of mine has one and I've posted it at ebay for him while at the same time continuing my search trying to find out what it might be worth.
It seems that, like many other collectibles, you just need to find the right person in the right place at the right time. I understand you want to restore yours and not trying to sell, but info still seems pretty scarce. I even contaced the current Diebold Company and had no luck.
I put the web address for the auction below just for kicks if you're interested in some photos. This one is a single door with a timer for the outside door. Inside is a separate smaller unit with combination lock. The dates are late 1800s and it weighs about 8,000 pounds.
In your searching - if you find anything you can share about prices or know anyone interested, I'd appreciate it, I'll do the same if I run across any refurbishing info.
