This is a later piece from Globe Wernicke - Generally made between 1925-1935. If your tag is more silver in color, then it quite possible could have been made as late as up til the war. It is an imitation mahogany (the mahogany is veneered onto another wood - probably birch)
Just about all Globe Wernicke bookcases are collectable, with the greatest demand going to the ones with iron or brass end bands made before 1920. It all depends on the originality/condition of your case - but more than likely it will be worth at or a little bit more than what you paid for it.
