Usually it is not cheep if done right, it depends on the extent of the damage. Most wicker can't be stripped, but a flap sander can be very fast when used on wicker, as opposed to hand sanding. If the items were painted and you want to just repaint then you will not spend as much. But if you want to restore a clear finish that will be more expensive. consider the original paint, is it lead base, that is more money, right? If you have an oil base paint stick with oil, it is more durable. If they had used laytex it can't be coated with an oil base but will have to be painted with a top grade laytex. If the finish is clear it was most likeyl shellac, this is simple to repair and can be varnished for more dirability if going out doors, not good for antiques. All the finishes or paints will go on best if sprayed so that all the surfaces are well covered without too heave a finish, the worst thing you can do to wicker is put on a thick coat and load up the weave with heavey coats of paint. Good work always seem expensive until the cheep job fails. Find an expert an amature can wreck your furniture and your wallet, good luck, James.
