You will need someome familiar with a Volt/Ohm meter. The coiled things are powered by a transfomer that converts houshold electric levels from 120vac to a lower value level like between 6 to 24 vac, usually around 12vac.The meter person will have to check the coiled spools for open or shorted conditions and the transformer for output. There may even be (not usual) a fuse in the line. If the transformer is good and the spool things are bad,you can probably buy new door bells or chimes to hook up.
